Steep hillside vines

The topography makes the terrain very hard to work

Priorat is an uneven, hilly terrain with steep ravines and small valleys surrounded by hills of varying height which form like an amphitheater protected by the Montsant mountain range bisecting the neighboring regions.

Other terrains with less challenging slopes are developed as terraces, which shape its profile as if it were a pyramid. These are narrow terraces that can only be farmed with a small tractor.

The modern terraced vineyards have younger vines formed on trellises which allow for easier vineyard management.
